Many of you have probably heard that the rumors that Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) may announce revisions to the Focused Assessment (FA) program next year. That is correct! CBP’s Office of International Trade, Regulatory Audit (RA) Division has publicly mentioned that the changes which may be announced in 2015 would include several revisions, including an audit approach which will now be tailored to each importer’s risk profile, larger sample sizes etc.
Last year, I was privileged to be invited to join on a Regulatory Audit Working Group to the Trade Enforcement and Revenue Collection (TERC) Subcommittee of the “Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations (COAC)” to provide feedback to CBP on these FA changes. While our working group’s deliberations remain confidential, please join me this Friday, September 26, 10:00 AM Pacific/1 pm Eastern on a webinar hosted by Compliance Online, where I will be discussing how to prepare for a customs audit. My talk will explain the structure and timeline of a customs audit, and teach attendees how to successfully prepare for the audit, the risk areas that the CBP looks for and insights on the Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) program.
Please feel free to pass this webinar registration weblink to anyone who might be interested!
Thanks and have a great day!
